Image of the day for

House Fire in 2nd due
Tuesday, July 27, 2010 11:23
-
It was just another hot day when PCD sounded the fire tones for Saylor TWP, for a working house fire. When the fire was confirmed by PD Saylor pulled a 2nd alarm which bought C3900, R3970 and Ankeny E1131. R3970 was first on scene with fire showing on B&C sides. 3970 crew pulled 200' 1 3/4 hose and went to work inside while 3970 driver got water supply, tools to the door and threw a ladder to the roof. The house was one story with three roofs and a wood ceiling that kept all the heat in. C3900 had command and pulled the 3rd alarm due to the heat index of 103. The fire was knocked within 30 min with intensive overhaul. All JFD units cleared in 2hrs.

6-27 Roof Ops with Mike
Wednesday, June 30, 2010
-
Mike with FDNY Tower Ladder 13 provided a "non-big-city" approach to roof & truck ops.  His down and simple 7,9,8 method was well received.

Further comparison of rotary saw sizes and blade types demonstrated all equipment is not created equal.  Lastly, the illustration of real world "Spongy Roofs" provided important knowledge to keep you & your crew safe.

Heavy Stream Operations - No problem, when you can move your master stream flowing 1000 GPM's- 75 feet laterally, inches from the ground, with an additional just feet away.

New ideas and techniques illustrated the benefit of a Tower with an out of the box approach.

Have your tactics kept pace with available technology?
