Note: Instructor change- Captain Scott Kraut from Fairfax will be substituting Lt. Mitchell of the FDNY, who was previously announced.

Scott Kraut is a Captain with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department and has been in the fire service for 13 years.  Scott is currently assigned to the Training Academy and is in charge of training the 1200 career and volunteer field personnel.

Prior to his current position at the training academy Scott held various ranks within the department, most recently as Lieutenant assigned to the busiest Ladder Truck in the county.

As an experienced instructor, Scott has a unique way of teaching and a true passion for firefighter safety and survival and RIT operations.  Having recently graduated from the West Point Leadership program, Scott continues to push for officer development in all aspects of training from firefighter to Battalion Chief.
JFD wishes Lt. Mitchell best of luck on his "Mandatory Training" @ FDNY, the weekend of our event.

Joe is currently a Tillerman (Technician) at Truck Company 17 in the District of Columbia, one of the City’s busiest Truck Companies.  He is also the Tower Ladder Captain at Kentland Volunteer Fire Department in Prince Georges County, Maryland and holds a Bachelors Degree in Resource Management from Shepherd University.

Joe began his fire service career at age 17 in Montgomery County, Md as a volunteer were he gained valuable experience in the rural, manpower challenged aspects of the fire service. His experiences in DC and Kentland have led to a driving passion for a productive, results driven fire service. Joe feels very strongly about learning and teaching the basic firefighting skills that, more often than not, dictate the overall positive outcome on the fire ground.

With an outstanding response, JFD is announcing a "Waitlist" for additional Sunday, June 27 "Hands On - Train the Trainer" Tickets.  Thats right, we have had a tremendous response to our:

2-Team Truck & Tower Operations Class

Keep the Emails coming for Sunday Tickets.  The waitlist positions will be placed in the order they are received.  Don't be discouraged, as we are considering adding a 5th Instructor.  This is depending upon the size of our waitlist by May 31st.

Additionally, plenty of Saturday, June 26th Seminar Tickets remain.

However, Saturday Pre-Sale ticket deadline is Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 1700.


 
TT: Michael Stothers Instructor Spotlight

On June 26th, JFD will welcome four instructors from Traditions Training. We would like to spotlight FDNY's FF Stothers:

Michael is a member of the New York City Fire Department, assigned to Tower Ladder 13. He started his fire service career in 1997 as a fireman in the United States Air Force. He was assigned to Spangdahlem Air Force Base in Germany, where he held the positions of Driver/ Operator, Rescue Technician, and Crew Chief.

In 2002 Michael returned home to continue his career with FDNY. For the past 8 years he’s been assigned to Tower Ladder-13 on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. His broad fire experience has taken him from the rural areas of Europe to the densely populated urban streets of New York City. He brings a real world approach to the fires services’ ever changing environment.
Michael has a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, and is a current member of the Air National Guard 106th Rescue Wing Fire Department.

Nick began his fire service career in 1994 as a volunteer in his hometown located in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Since then he has served as a career/volunteer firefighter in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia. He holds a bachelors degree in fire science from the University of Maryland and a masters degree in management from the Public Safety Executive Leadership program at the Johns Hopkins University.

Nick is a firefighter with the District of Columbia Fire Department, assigned to Engine Company 11 in the Columbia Heights section of Washington, DC and is also a firefighter with the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department.  He is the recipient of a Medal of Valor from Firehouse Magazine, as well as a Silver Medal for Valor by the Prince George’ County Fire Department. Nick is also an author for Fire Engineering magazine & Firehouse.com.

4. Departments 3960 responds to on Teams Cards

The desired delegate from the above would be either:
